Andrew Sorkin, DMD, FAGD

“I go the extra mile to deliver the best possible care to my patients because I know that what I do for them has huge impacts on how they look, feel, and function. I treat them like my own family members; I want the best for them and will do everything I can to create a smile my patients will treasure for a lifetime.”

Education and Experience

Dr. Andrew Sorkin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Albany. He then attended Boston University School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine.

After his graduation from dental school, Dr. Sorkin was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and served as the Dental Department Head aboard the U.S.S. Whidbey Island. During his tour of duty, he was deployed to the Middle East in Support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his service during this time.

Upon completion of his military commitment, he began work in private practice with Dr. Wallace in 2002. From 2006 - 2011,  Dr. Sorkin was appointed to the General Dentistry staff at Sibley Memorial Hospital and was the acting dental consultant for the Renaissance Skilled Nursing Facility.

In 2012, Dr. Sorkin received the Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).  In order to obtain this, he had to complete 500 hours of continuing education in various disciplines and then pass a rigorous examination.  He is extremely proud of his accomplishment considering only seven percent of AGD dentists have achieved fellowship status.

Dr. Sorkin is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, Southern Maryland Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. He has a keen interest in treating patients with Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD).

Outside the Office

In his spare time, you may see Dr. Sorkin swimming, biking, or running through Montgomery, Howard, or Carroll County. He has completed numerous Olympic,  Half-Ironman and Ironman distance triathlons. His goal is to one day qualify for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. Originally from New York, he and his wife, Stacey, live in Brookeville with their son and daughter.
